Lunch at Beppu Menkan Japanese Noodle Restaurant (别府面馆)

We had our lunch at Beppu Menkan Japanese Noodle Restaurant (别府面馆)at Tiong Bahru (Singapore).

They are famous with their Spicy Ramen.
With their Special logo and restaurant name, It clearly tell!!  "The HOT and SPICY" is their specialty
RED = HOT and SPICY ( I guess...Haha!!)

Their soup base can categorize into various levels of spiciness, Like. 1 chili, 2 chilies, 4 chilies, 6 chilies  and 8chiliies and we can choose the level of spicy according to our preference.

For those who can not take the Hot and spicy stuff, rest assure, there are still variety of choice out there. Like Non Spicy Ramen, Sushi, Hotspot, Bento. (^_^)

Start to choose our Lunch....
Finally, we both chose the same dish!! TATSUMAKI JIGOKU!
( I was tempted by the Kimchi - pic showed in the menu...:P)
For the spicy level, To place safe, I chose 1 chili.

Here my dish come!!

My Comment :

Personally, 1 chili - The Spiciness level  is just right for me.
(Too spicy will numb your tongue till tasteless to the food)

Noodle      - Good.(Non sloggy. Quite Q.)
Soup base - Rich
Kimchi      - Good
Cha Shau  -Impressive ( The only thing impress both of us is their Cha Shau)
It is really juicy and tender. when I put it into the mouth, the meat dissolve!
(without feeling oilyness and hard.) chinese say 入口即化

Next time if i would come back to this restaurant again, I would try "Oniyama Jigoku Ramen" which consist of fried crispy chicken chunks " for I saw a lot of people order this dish. ^_^

Taipei City Mall (Taipei Main Underground Shopping Street)台北地下街
The Taipei City Mall, (also known as Taipei Main Underground Shopping Street) is located at the intersection of Daan and Zhongzheng District of Taipei city. It is one of the biggest underground shopping malls in the world
(Website: http://www.taiwan-taipei.com/info_about_taipei/taipei_metro_mall.php)

Direction:
By Taipei MRT (台北捷運):
Take any Taipei MRT line to Taipei Main Station, take escalators down to the next floor and follow the signs (about 1 minutewalk from Exit 1 North (
北一門) of Taipei Main Station (台北車站)).

Thing to BUY:
Here, you can buy clothes, try shoes, play UFO machine, buy beauty products and many many more. Taipei Underground Mall have a few different sections. One shop that was recommended by blogger  which is above the underground mall there is 光南大批發, it sells all kinds of stuffs electronics, stationaries, beauty products, CDs and many more, the items are relatively lower than other places.

(TIP: Highly recommend the t-shirts in the underground mall. Around NT$80~100+, it seems to be cheaper than Wufenpu.)
光南大批發 許昌店, 台北市許昌街40, 在新光三越后面的那条街 [EXIT 6]

Taipei ZhongshanMetro Shopping Mall (中山地下街)
Littleinfo :
Zhongshan Metro Mall (between Taipei MainStation / Shuanglian Station). Known as underground book street.

It is an extensiveunderground shoppingmall in Zhongshan District and Datong District, Taipei,Taiwan. It is located at Changan West Rd., No. 52-1.The mall stretches from Taipei Main Station in the south to Shuanglian Station in the north

Direction :
By walk
You can enter the shopping mall not far from Ximen Ding district (Hsimen) and walk your way underground all the way to Zhongshan MRT station. On your way there you'll pass Nova, XinGuang San Yue department store, and Taipei main train station overhead.

After you passed Taipei main train station the walk gets you either through the main station above ground or through a parking lot below ground. From here you can walk straight to Zhongshan MRT station. If you Enter at Chong quing North road near Taipei Ximen district then walk your way to Taipei MRT. Straight ahead is Taipei Main station

Littleinfo:
Nova is big computer store that hosts many different smaller companies who sell their products. Many of them manufacture desktop computers and sell them at very low prices. Most Locals however buy their PC in Ba-Der Road (Pa-Te Lu) sec 2.

EastMetro Mall
(Between Zhongxiao Fuxing / Zhongxiao Dunhua Stations )
This is a little-known "accessory, bag and cute stuff Wufenpu", if you will, frequented by retailers and "in-the-know" locals--it's more of a wholesale area. The main shopping area is within Civic Blvd., Chong qing N. Rd., Chang an W.Rd. and Taiyuan St., including the maze of lanes, streets and alley ways within this block. To get there, use the pedestrian overpass behind the train station or Taipei Metro Mall Exits 4, 5, 6 or 7 (please note, that's Metro Mall Exit, not MRT Exit). As the stores cater mainly to retailers, many are closed on weekends, so it's preferable to go on a weekday.

Houchezhan 後車站 is oneblock NW of Taipei Main Station, the alleys and lanes within the block of CivicBlvd Elevated Expressway, Chongqing N Rd, Changan W Rd and Taiyuan St. Popular shopping place for bags and wallets, scarves, socks, costume jewelry, hair clips, accessories and cute "small items".
Little info:
1. On the west side of Congqing N. Rd. (between Metro Mall Exit 4 and that gray "20"), there's a big white multi-story store selling cute stuff (such as Disney) and accessories. Leave large bags in a locker outside the store; the $10 will be returned.
2. On Changan W. Rd. facing north, there's a Hello Kitty shop(one of several in the area) and a Peter Rabbit shop.
3. On the corner of Changan W. Rd. and Taiyuan St., there's aDoraemon shop.
4. On Changan W. Rd. facing south, there's a "101 ToyKingdom" (kinda cluttered)
5. On the corner of Congqing N. Rd. and Changan W. Rd. there's ashop selling some kind of honey health food with very good business! (Don'tknow what it is, though...)
It's good to do this area along with the Metro Malls connected to Taipei Main Station, as they're all in the same area. And if you still want to shop, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Main Store is across the street!
